Margaret Carter, the "Grand Dame of Liberal Texas Politics," served behind the scenes as a political strategist for the Democratic Party in Tarrant County. She served on the Texas Democratic Party State Executive Committee. She was also an active volunteer in several women's groups and civic organizations in Fort Worth. She died on August 14, 1988.
